“Dongsha Marine National Park Planning book and map (draft)” was approved by Executive Yuan in 2006 to emphasize the conservation of Dongsha Atoll ecosystem, which was the prelude to establish marine national park in Taiwan. After one year later, Marine National Park Headquarters of Taiwan was established in charge of marine conservation and biodiversity survey. Recently, the marine national park of Taiwan includes Dongsha Marine National Park and South Penghu Marine National Park. The main targets of Marine National Park are (1) to promote ecological resources conservation and restoration planning (2) to facilitate international marine cooperation research and local participation programs (3) to upgrade environmental conservation concepts and talent development plans (4) promotion of eco-tourism activities and recreation resources planning.
