The Rastoma network was created in 2012. It brings together sea turtle conservationists in the 6 countries of Central Africa that have a coastline on the Atlantic Ocean: Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Sao Tome and Principe, Gabon, the Republic of Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo.The Rastoma currently counts 10 NGO members and 25 individual members distributed in these six countries. During the last RASTOMA’s General Assembly.The network also had a Scientific Advisory Board composed of 20 people from academic, research and institutional organizations distributed around the world.RASTOMA supports the efforts of sea turtle conservation professionals in Central Africa along several lines :developing and coordinating a conservation strategy and sub-regional concerted actions,promoting exchanges between the different actors of the region,provide technical support to collect data on marine species especially on turtles in standardized and harmonized way, and to use this data to feed national, regional and international strategies and indicators.support and facilited civil society organization to feed national and international database with the data collected on the marines turtles.
