The "Laboratory for the conservation of functional biodiversity in forest ecosystems" of CREA is devoted to the collection of biodiversity data in Italian woodlands and the publication of open datasets. This mission is achieved through the participation to national and EU projects (e.g. in progress now: the National Biodiversity Focus Centre funded by NRRP). One of our main mission is to apply and promote citizen science for the study of the distribution and conservation status of protected species/habitats and the monitoring foreseen in the framework of the Habitats Directive (LIFE ESC360 https://www.facebook.com/life360esc/, www.innat.it). We are also engaged in the initiative aimed at establish the Italian coordination for environmental citizen science.
Moreover, we cooperate with the European LTER network and are member of Italian LTER steering committee (visit https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5570272, https://doi.org/10.3897/natureconservation.34.35517, https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.1578166). Finally we are the scientific advisors for the network of Nature State Reserves concerning the biodiversity data.
