Embrapa Forestry is a governmental research organization affiliated with the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and is located in Colombo, Brazil. Its mission is to develop solutions to address research, development and innovation issues for forest sustainability. Therefore, it focuses on various aspects related to research in forestry, native forests and their products, agroforestry and agrosilvopastoral systems, as well as on forest biotechnology, biological pest control, environmental monitory, soil surveys, biodiversity and quality, and the recovery of degraded lands throughout Brazil. It hosts a Herbarium, the largest Crassiclitellata (earthworm) collection in Brazil, and an Entomological and Microbiological collection. Embrapa Forestry offers short-term training (courses, workshops, and other scientific and technical events), and numerous possibilities for in-service training for visiting researchers, trainees and fellows, as well as supervision of master and doctoral theses linked to several universities in the country.
