Astana Botanical Garden - a specially protected natural area with the status of an environmental and scientific organization, intended for research and scientific development on the protection, protection, reproduction and use of flora. The collection of the herbarium fund of the Astana Botanical Garden currently contains about 15,000 herbarium specimens of higher vascular plants of Kazakhstan. The herbarium Fund of the Astana Botanical Garden was established in 2019. In 2021, the Herbarium of the Astana Botanical Garden was included in the Index Herbariorum and received the acronym ‘NUR’. The main goal is to create a regional herbarium of Kazakhstan and adjacent territories, with exhaustive completeness representing all species living in this territory. The staff of the herbarium fund includes the Head of the laboratory, four researchers, two laboratory assistants and three specialists in mounting and processing herbarium collections. Special compactors are installed for storing herbarium collections. The arrangement of families and genera of vascular plants is accepted according to the system of A. G. Engler (1887-1915). The collection is replenished by obtaining doublet materials from domestic and foreign herbarium collections, personal collections, as well as collecting material during expedition trips.
