The Somaliland Biodiversity Foundation is registered in both Somaliland and the USA. Its mission to help build opportunities for studying Somaliland's biodiversity the country. As part of that mission, it has started a Biodiversity Museum at the University of Hargeisa which already contributes its herbarium records to GBIF. Its collection code is HARG. This form is to register an image-based collection, HARGZ-I, which is designed to hold imaged-based occurrence records. Eight of its nine records are not currently recorded in GBIF as being in Somaliland. Next year, the Foundation anticipates registering the specimen-based animal collection, HARGZ, with GBIF plus similar collections from two other Somaliland institutions. In addition, it will work to enable a Somalilander to function as a contact person for GBIF. I have marked the location of the Foundation's Somaliland HQ on the map.
