The Instituto de Investigaciones en Biodiversidad y Medioambiente (INIBIOMA) is an institute of joint ownership between CONICET and the Universidad Nacional del Comahue (UNCo). It was created in 2006 and currently has a staff of more than 200 people, including researchers, fellows, administrative and support staff. They all make up a scientific body dedicated to research on biodiversity and the environment, to the training of human resources, and to various activities of transfer, linking and services to third parties. The lines of research are related to environmental and biodiversity aspects that include ecology, zoology, botany, ethnobiology, genetics, and paleontology.
