The Patagonia Station for Interdisciplinary Research UC is located in Exploradores Bay, Aysén Region, at the mouth of the Exploradores River and the Pacific fjords. It is a supposedly pristine territory composed of a maritime area and Nothofagus forests, in a periglacial zone subjected to the double influence of the Northern Ice Field and the South Pacific. Its characteristics make it an exceptional territory, which allows us to understand the functioning of southern ecosystems little altered, and how they are transformed by global change and human occupation and its productive activities. Its mission is to contribute to the understanding of the territorial and ecosystemic dynamics of Western Central Patagonia through the development of interdisciplinary research, opening the doors to researchers from different areas of knowledge.
