The Forest Research Centre (FRC) is the Research and Development (R&D) division of the Sabah Forestry Department (SFD). Our mission is not only to be a centre of excellence in forestry research, but we also aim to provide the best service to our clients and to generate knowledge and technology to support the conservation, management, development, and sustainable utilisation of the forest resources of Sabah through scientific research.
Forest Biodiversity and Conservation (FBC) is part of 5 Programmes carried out under the FRC that are relevant to data management and collection repository. The FBC programme provides fundamental information about the distribution and abundance of biodiversity, and such data are necessary for long-term sustainable management, utilisation and conservation of biodiverse areas. In addition, FRC is home to the largest collections in Sabah, including the Insect Museum, Sandakan Herbarium, and Xylarium, as well as other growing collections of Fungi, Seed, Freshwater Fish, and Anuran.
