Bomenstichting (The Tree Foundation) is a non profit organisation in the Netherlands. The Tree Foundation promotes care and attention for trees in the city and in the countryside. The Tree Foundation wants to give trees space and protect them from ill-considered actions. Trees are not disposable products, they provide oxygen, beauty and shade. Trees are indispensable when it comes to water management, cooling the city, climate, CO2 absorption, a pleasant living environment, etc. Many people feel involved with trees, trees have a different time dimension than we do. For many people they also mean emotion and security. The Bomenstichting manages a register of monumental trees in the Netherlands, a collection of trees with special value for the landscape, biodiversity and ecology, cultural heritage and the living environment.
