Public descriptionThe museum of Helsingborg was founded in 1909. Three years before the museum opened in 1909, in March 1906, a private zoological museum was purchased. It had been collected by patron and naturalist Carl Möller from Vedelsbäck in Stehag parish. The acquisition was said to consist of all of Sweden's species of birds, butterflies and beetles, as well as bird eggs. The collecting had taken place during the second half of the 19th century, mainly around Ringsjön and Söderåsen in Skåne. After the initial acquisition from Carl Möller, the museum continued to acquire more collections of both insects, birds and vertebrae, as well as herbariums.
