The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, established by Royal Decree 2/2020 of 12 January, is in charge of proposing and executing the Government's policy on agricultural, livestock and fisheries resources, the agri-food industry and food.In particular, carrying out the actions described in terms of conservation, selection, improvement, reproduction and genetic material of plant species, as well as ensuring the protection, conservation, sustainable use and dissemination of the genetic richness of plant genetic resources for agriculture and food.

El Ministerio de Agricultura, Pesca y Alimentación, se establece por el Real Decreto 2/2020, de 12 de enero, estando al cargo de la propuesta y ejecución de la política del Gobierno en materia de recursos agrícolas, ganaderos y pesqueros, de industria agroalimentaria y de alimentación. En particular, la realización de las actuaciones descritas en materia de conservación, selección, mejora, reproducción y material genético de las especies vegetales, así como velar por la protección, conservación, uso sostenible y difusión del patrimonio genético de los recursos fitogenéticos para la agricultura y la alimentación.
