Stichting Calidris is een vrijwilligersorganisatie die voort komt uit het onderzoek naar wadvogels van de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Sinds 1967 wordt op Schiermonnikoog onderzoek gedaan naar stellopers in de Waddenzee, eerst door de Vrije Universiteit en vanaf 1997 is het monitoringonderzoek voortgezet onder de vlag van Calidris. Dit wadvogel monitoringsonderzoek is het langst lopende monitoringonderzoek in de internationale Waddenzee.
