The Natural History Museum of Venice Giancarlo Ligabue is an Italian natural sciences museum housed in the Fontego dei Turchi, a 13th century building facing the Grand Canal.

It was founded in 1923 with the aim of bringing together the naturalistic collections of the Museo Correr and the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere e Arti. Over time, this material was added to, through acquisitions and donations, to make up the present collection that spans 700 million years, with 2 million finds: zoological, entomological and botanical collections, fossils and anatomic preparations, as well as ethnographic collections and a library with over 40 thousand volumes.

The museum produces, mantains and manages biodiversity data, mainly local but also covering other territorial areas, obtained both through the study of collections and through field research activities. It promotes the diffusion of the scientific culture, also offering training programs, naturalistic consulting, access to the collections and to the library.
