El consejo comunitario de Cupica pretende la protección de 103.022 hectáreas de bosques tropicales de selva húmeda en el extremo norte del Departamento del Chocó, donde históricamente se han realizado labores de conservación de su territorio. Por su compromiso con los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible y su impacto ambiental, social y económico en Bahía Solano el consejo comunitario obtuvo el primer lugar en la categoría Bosques y Flora del continente entregado por Premios Latinoamérica Verde 2020.
