La Universidad de Chile es la más antigua institución de educación superior de Chile, de carácter nacional, pública y autónoma, dedicada a la enseñanza superior, investigación, creación, innovación y extensión en las ciencias, las humanidades, las artes y las técnicas, al servicio del país.Como universidad de la nación asume su quehacer con criterios de calidad, fomentando el acceso inclusivo y con equidad al sistema educativo, proveyendo la mayor oferta de programas académicos de postgrado y formando profesionales competentes y socialmente responsables. Las investigaciones que realiza la Universidad de Chile le permiten conocer, describir y crear colecciones de diversidad biológica de distintas especies del país, en búsqueda de generar conocimiento y promover la protección de su patrimonio natural. La Universidad de Chile cuenta con más de 35 colecciones biológicas de todos los grandes grupos de organismos que albergan sobre 350.000 especímenes.A través del Comité de Diversidad Biológica de la Vicerrectoría de Investigación y Desarrollo, quien actúa como la entidad administradora del sitio en GBIF, nodo chileno, se propone generar difusión de datos de sus colecciones biológicas y otros registros de biodiversidad en estudios de campo. // Chile’s oldest institution of higher education is the Universidad de Chile; National, public and autonomous, it is committed to teach, research, create, innovate, and extend the spectrum of sciences, humanities, arts and several other fields at the service of the country. As a public national university, it assumes its work with quality criteria, promoting inclusive and equitable access to the education system, providing the widest range of postgraduate academic programs above the rest of the national house of studies, and training competent and socially responsible professionals.The research carried out by the Universidad de Chile allows to know, describe and create collections of biological diversity of different species of the country, to generate knowledge and promote protection of its natural heritage; the Universidad de Chile has over 35 biological collections of all the major groups of living organisms that contain over 350,000 specimens.Through the Biological Diversity Committee of the Vice-Rector's Office for Research and Development, which acts as the site administrator in the Chilean node of GBIF, it is proposed to generate data dissemination in field studies, through its biological collections and other biodiversity records.
