The province of Jujuy, located in Northern Argentina, is characterized by a high variability of ecoregions and a rich biodiversity. The JUA Herbarium (Jujuy Agronomy), part of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences (FCA) at the National University of Jujuy (UNJu), was created in 1981 to conserve and highlight the value of this floristic wealth. The JUA Herbarium serves as a hub for research projects mainly focused on taxonomy, evaluation of local resources, and studies aimed at conserving and restoring the region's flora. It receives specimens from various research centers at UNJu and other institutions for preservation. In addition, the herbarium engages in exchanges and collaborations with other herbaria across Argentina and is part of the Argentine Herbarium Network (RedHAr). Its team includes researchers from UNJu and CONICET, graduate and postgraduate fellows, and undergraduate students.

The JUA Herbarium's collection primarily consists of specimens of vascular plants, with a smaller representation of non-vascular plants, lichens, other plant groups, and fungal sporocarps. It also houses a biocultural collection featuring various taxa of Andean crops and other useful plants. The JUA Herbarium is open to acquiring and conserving different material related to plants and plant products. While most of the collection originates from Argentina, it also includes specimens from South America and other regions of the world.

In May 2023, the Botanical Studies and Research Centre (Centro de Estudios e Investigaciones Botánicas -CEIBo-) was established. This center integrates the JUA Herbarium, the Plant Anatomy Laboratory, and the General Botany Department of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences (FCA). CEIBo conducts interdisciplinary research involving professionals from various fields, including agronomists, biologists, bromatologists, and anthropologists. Moreover, it plays a crucial role in training human resources and offers specialized technical services, such as the identification and analysis of plant specimens and samples from various sources, as well as their processing for research or conservation purposes.

La provincia de Jujuy, situada al norte de Argentina, comprende una alta variabilidad de ecorregiones y biodiversidad. Para conservar y poner en valor esta riqueza florística se creó en 1981 el Herbario JUA (Jujuy Agronomía) de la Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias (FCA) de la Universidad Nacional de Jujuy (UNJu). El Herbario JUA es un espacio donde se desarrollan proyectos de investigación vinculados principalmente a la taxonomía, valoración de los recursos locales, estudios para la conservación y restauración de la flora local. Recibe para resguardo ejemplares de otros centros de investigación de la UNJu y otras instituciones. Realiza intercambios y colaboraciones con otros herbarios de Argentina y forma parte de la Red de Herbarios de la Argentina (RedHAr). Se encuentra conformado por docentes investigadores de la UNJu y CONICET, becarios de grado y posgrado y estudiantes de carreras de grado.

La colección del Herbario JUA contiene fundamentalmente ejemplares de plantas vasculares, en menor proporción ejemplares de plantas no vasculares, líquenes y otros grupos de plantas, así también esporocarpos de hongos. Alberga una colección biocultural, compuesta por diversos taxones de cultivos andinos y otras plantas útiles. La colección del Herbario JUA está abierta a recibir distintos tipos de materiales dentro del área de las plantas y productos derivados para su custodia. La mayor parte de la colección corresponde a Argentina, pero también cuenta con ejemplares de América y otros sitios del mundo.

En mayo de 2023 se constituye el Centro de Estudios e Investigaciones Botánicas (CEIBo), el cual integra al Herbario JUA, al laboratorio de Anatomía Vegetal y a la Cátedra de Botánica General de la FCA. El Centro desarrolla investigación inter y multidisciplinaria mediante la participación de profesionales e investigadores con distintos enfoques (agrónomos, biólogos, bromatólogos y antropólogos). Contribuye a la formación de recursos humanos y presta servicios técnicos especializados, como la determinación de ejemplares de plantas y muestras de distinta fuente y su procesamiento para estudios o conservación.
