Manash Kozybayev North Kazakhstan University is the only public multi-profile university of the North Kazakhstan region. It is one of the oldest educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan with 85-year history. Education is carried out at 8 faculties. At the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the Department of "Biology" there is a large herbarium collection. The herbarium fund was created in 1960 by Albina Konstantinovna Melnitskaya. The collection contains material collected in the period since 1958. The fund is annually replenished with new specimens. Herbarium collections are one of the most important tools for studying the biological diversity of the plant world, giving an idea of the morphological structure of plants and floristic composition of biocenoses. In addition, it allows phytomonitoring, which in turn is the basis for the formation of environmental education and as a result of the rational use of natural resources.
