The University of North Carolina Wilmington herbarium (WNC) holds ca. 25,000 (in 2025) collections of algae, fungi, lichens, and plants. The main focus area is the Coastal Plain of the Carolinas. Because many of the collections were made locally by students, professors, and associates, a disproportionate percentage are unicates.
