The German Hunting Association represents more than 250,000 hunters and rangers in Germany and is recognised as a nature conservation organisation.

Since 2017, the association has been operating a Germany-wide animal register to record animals found dead. The focus is on conflicts between animals and traffic. The project was launched in the state of Schleswig-Holstein in 2011.
