The M.M. Gryshko National Botanic Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NBG NASU) is one of Ukraine’s foremost scientific institutions in plant biology and ranks among the 12 largest botanical gardens in the world. It houses eight scientific departments and two laboratories dedicated to research in plant introduction and acclimatization, conservation of endemic, relict, rare, and endangered species, as well as the selection of ornamental, edible, and fodder crops. Additionally, its work spans biotechnology, medicinal botany, phytodesign, and allelopathy. Several of NBG’s plant collections are officially recognized as part of Ukraine’s National Treasure. These collections require meticulous cataloging and integration into international open-access biodiversity databases, such as GBIF, to ensure their preservation and accessibility for global scientific research.
