Public descriptionThe Museo Regionale di Scienze Naturali of Turin (Italy) was founded in 1978.
It houses both the natural history collections of the Museum of Zoology and the Museum of Geology, Petrography and Mineralogy. Botanical collections have been added to these since the 1980s.
Currently, the museum is divided into five sections: Botany, Palaeontology, Zoology, Entomology and Geology, Petrography and Mineralogy.
Overall, the Botany, Palaeontology and Geology, Petrography and Mineralogy sections each hold about 80000 specimens; the Entomology section about 4.5 million, and Zoology about 470000.
