The Shark Research Unit (SRU) is a South African-based marine research and conservation organisation dedicated to the study and protection of sharks and their ecosystems. Based in Mossel Bay and Scottburgh, our team of scientists, educators, and conservationists conducts vital research on shark behaviour, ecology, and population dynamics, while also fostering public awareness and inspiring future ocean advocates through education and hands-on field experiences. Through collaboration with local communities, academic institutions, and international partners, SRU is committed to advancing shark science and safeguarding our oceans for generations to come.
